How Dear to Me

Performed by Karen Christopher with special guests

How Dear to Me summons the ghost of the Goat Island performance How Dear to Me the Hour When Daylight Dies (1996). There was a hand dance within that performance consisting of both trembling and rubbing hands, hands that seem to console, to fly away, and to express inner states. The dance is accompanied by the song Que, Sera Sera made famous by Doris Day.

Performed in the spot called El Dorado Valley field, this dance is a shivering homage to all of the ghosts of Dartington College of Arts. The performance relates to Karen’s 3-year teaching project The Dove, the Ghost, the Handkerchief Tree.
