Regarding Landscape was a five-day intensive performance-making summer school, led by theatre artists Karen Christopher and Augusto Corrieri, with interventions from Eilon Morris and Sara Jane Bailes.

Situated in the newly opened Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA), the workshop focused on the idea of ‘landscape’ in its broadest meanings as a point of departure, and engaged practical experiences to illuminate creative strategies. During the week we drew upon a range of materials, ideas, prompts, approaches and possibilities regarding structures for working processes as well as for composing performance work itself. The Sussex landscape, in particular the South Downs where the campus is located, provided a material and imaginative environment for the workshop. As part of the week, participants engaged in instructions and tasks that led them out into the landscape, local towns and cities, including Brighton, Hove and Lewes.

The work included a mixture of practice and theory informed by the contribution of the participants. Activities and tasks engaged approaches to research, material generation, collaborative methods, reflection and analysis, ensemble building, and creative feedback.
